Steamer Minnesota; July 9, 1874President Joseph F. Smith.
Dear Brother,--We are all well; it is expected that we shall reach Queenstown between twelve and one o'clock today.
We organized the company, and will have our morning and evening prayers together. We have our own guard; two men each night.
I do highly recommend your good counsel, in bringing the emigrants, immediately after their arrival at Liverpool, on board of the ship. In taking this course a good deal of money may be saved by them; at least I have found this to be the case, as sometimes emigrants spend their money very unprofitably. I have purchased for them what articles they needed, not only much cheaper, but better.
We feel happy and thankful to the Lord for being permitted to go to our mountain home.
May the Lord God of Israel bless you in all your labors. With kind love and regards to you, and the brethren in the office, in which I am joined by the Saints on the Minnesota, I remain your brother in the everlasting gospel,
John Keller. [p.459]
