"DEPARTURE. -- Elders George C. Riser and Jacob F. Secrist, sailed on board the Isaac Jeanes, with a small company of German Saints, and one English, for Philadelphia, on the 3rd instant. This company numbered in all sixteen souls of Saints, and were expecting a small company from the Canton of Zurich to join them, but which were detained by ice in the Rhine, and thereby prevented reaching Liverpool in time to go by this vessel.
Elders Riser and Secrist have labored faithfully, through much privation, persecution, bonds, and imprisonment, for the Gospel's sake and the salvation of immortal souls in those countries. Their labors, though much like seed cast into the ground, will yet bring forth thirty, sixty, and an hundred fold to the glory of God, and their eternal rejoicing. They go with our confidence and blessing, and also our prayer for a prosperous journey."

"EIGHTY-THIRD COMPANY. -- Isaac Jeans, 16 souls. Elders George C. Riser and Jacob F. Secrist, with a small company of German Saints from Hamburg, and one English (sixteen souls in all) sailed from Liverpool on board the ship Isaac Jeans, February 3rd, 1855. The company had a very agreeable voyage, with the exception of one storm in which a sailor was washed overboard and lost. On Monday morning, March 5th, 1855, the Isaac Jeans arrived at Philadelphia, after a passage of thirty days. From Philadelphia the journey was continued on the eighth to Cincinnati, Ohio, where they arrived on the twelfth. The brethren secured temporary employment with some difficulty; and they found that wages were not so high at Cincinnati as in St. Louis and vicinity.
