To the company of Latter-day Saints on board the Enoch Train for Boston, U.S.A.Beloved Saints,
This certifies that Elder James Ferguson is appointed to preside over you during your passage to Boston. Elders E. [Edmond] Ellsworth, and D. [Daniel] D. McArthur are appointed counselors to Elder Ferguson.
We earnestly desire that all the company will give diligent heed to obey the counsels which they may receive from time to time from these brethren, and we specially request that all the elders on board will render their best aid to enable the presidency to maintain proper order and discipline. Fail not to observe your prayers in the season thereof, keep the commandments of God, and your covenants with him, and no power shall prevail [p. 1] against your safe passage.
May the Lord bless you with diligent, obedient hearts, with fellowship with each other and the Holy Spirit, that you may be the objects of his constant care and obtain strength to accomplish your great journey amidst safety and rejoicing.
Finally, brethren, my blessing be upon you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
