Queenstown, S.S. Wyoming, October 15th, 1874.President Joseph F. Smith
Dear Brother,--It will be interesting to you and the Saints to learn how matters are on board. Immediately after you and the brethren left us yesterday, we organized into two wards, placing Elders Peter Oldroyd over the first ward and Daniel Murphy over the second, with Elders [James] Bywater and [Volney] King as my Counselors; all on board sustaining the nominations. General instructions were given in relation to the order to be observed; the brethren and sisters all feeling well, thanking our Father in Heaven that they are on their way to the home of the Saints. The channel [p.666] has been pretty rough up to the present, which has caused quite a number to turn seasick; yet, our faith is, we will have a pleasant voyage. I must say the officers on board are doing all they can for the comfort of the people, which is a credit to the line to whom they belong. The Saints on board wish to be remembered to you and the brethren at the office. On our arrival at New York, you will receive more. Praying for the success of our Father's Kingdom and his good spirit to continue with you, we remain your brethren in the gospel,
William N. Fife,James Bywater,Volney King. [p.667]
