On Board the S. S. WisconsinAugust 31, 1889.President George Teasdale.
Dear Brother,--It is now 9 p.m., and everything is progressing favorably. Some of the sisters who were quite discouraged this morning with the bustle and trouble of getting started, are now feeling very well, and realize that it is good to be here. About l:20 p.m. today the Wisconsin steered out of the harbor, and about 2 p.m. passed the Bar Lightship. She then put on full speed, and at 5 p.m., with the help of the tide, we were running at the rate of 15 knots an hour. When we were fairly out at sea dinner was served. When this was over, President [William] Payne and his assistants proceeded to arrange the Saints in wards, according to your instructions, and an elder was appointed to preside over each. Those called to this duty are as follows: W. [William] J. Kelson, E. [Ephriam] Marshall, Robert Parker, Thomas B. Davis, and D. [Daniel] K. Greene. It is arranged to have the Saints assemble in their respective wards at the same time, viz., 7:30 a.m., and 8 p.m. daily, for prayer and instructions. Everything seems to be going on well, and the best of feeling prevails.
Sunday, Sept. 1, 8:30 a.m. - -We are still getting on nicely. The majority of the Saints rested well last night, and feel refreshed this morning.
The officers of the vessel are very attentive, and show us every kindness. The ship is so crowded that it is doubtful whether we shall be able to hold a meeting with the Saints today. We will inform you in our next letter how we get along. We have now come to a full stop near Queenstown, and the passengers are delighted with the view of Erin's green shores.
With kind regards to all at "42," [42 Islington WAS THE ADDRESS OF THE BRITISH MISSION IN LIVERPOOL] we remain your brethren in the Gospel of Christ.
