"THE THIRD COMPANY. -- The third and largest company of the season of emigrating Saints sailed on the S. S. Nevada, on the 20th instant, in charge of Elder Hans O. Magleby. They numbered in all 697 souls, 503 of them being Saints from Scandinavia, and 172 from Great Britain. The other 22 were missionaries from Utah who had served as a rule about two years in Europe, laboring to spread a knowledge of the gospel, and are now returning, after an honorable release, taking some of the 'sheaves' of their gleaming with them. The names of the returning elders are as follows: Hans O. Magelby, A. C. Nielsen, L. P. Christensen, Soren C. Petersen, Niels Herelsen, Andrew Hanson
, Thomas C. Christensen, Jens M. Christensen, Marten Rasmussen, Lars Swensen, T. J. Israelsen, Bent Larsen, Hans O. Hansen, Andrew Eleason, Samuel Petersen, L. P. Johnson, James Jorgason, Haken Anderson, O. F. Whitney, Henry W. Brown, George C. Parkinson and William W. Hunter. We wish the company a safe and pleasant journey by sea and land.
Shortly after starting, as we learn by letter received form Elders Magleby and Brown, the company organized with the following named elders as officers: H. O. Magleby, president; George C. Parkinson, assistant; Henry W. Brown, clerk; Lars Swensen, chaplain; Bent Larson, captain of the guard. The company was divided into four wards, with Bishop O. F. Whitney to preside over the 1st, James Jorgason over the 2nd, A. C. Nielsen over the 3rd, and L. P. Christensen over the 4th. Six o'clock was decided upon as the time for arising in the morning, 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. for prayers, and 10 p.m. as the time to retire to bed."

"Wed. 20. [June 1883] -- The steamship Nevada sailed from Liverpool, England, with 697 Saints, including 22 returning missionaries, under the direction of Hans O. Magleby. The company arrived in New York July 1st, and at Ogden July 7th."

". . . A large company of the season's emigrating Saints from Scandinavia, 503 in number, together with 18 returning missionaries, sailed from Copenhagen June 15th, 188
3, on the steamers 'Pacific' and 'Milo.' The returning missionaries were: Hans O. Magleby (leader of the company), Andrew C. Nielsen, Lars Peter Christensen, Soren Christian Petersen, Niels Heilesen, Andreas Hansen, Thomas Christian Christensen, Jens M. Christensen, Morten Rasmussen, Lars Svendsen, Tellef Johan Israelsen, Bendt Larsen, Andrew Eliason, Solomon Petersen, Lars P. Johnson, James Yorgason and Hans Olin Hansen. Elder Hakon Anderson from Kanosh, Utah, who arrived in Copehagen, May 4, 1883, also accompanied the emigrants; he returned on account of poor health.
Among the emigrating Saints was Elder Hugo D. E. Peterson, who had spent about two and a half years in the mission office as writer for 'Nordstjernan' and attending to other routine work required of him by his superiors. He had labored under President Niels Wilhelmsen for about eight months and nearly two years under President Christian D. Fjeldsted.
The steamers 'Pacific' and 'Milo,' after a rough voyage across the North Sea, arrived at Hull, England, on the 18th, whence the company went by train to Liverpool. Here it was joined by 171 British Saints and four returning missionaries and sailed on the 20th of June on the steamer 'Nevada,' which arrived in New York July 1st. The company proceeded westward by train the same day, and a part of the company arrived in Ogden July 7th, while the remainder arrived there next morning (July 8th). Those who desired to go farther south than Ogden arrived in Salt Lake City at noon July 8th. A little child of English parentage died in Omaha, and an old Swedish brother, Ola
Rasmusson of Slimminge, Skane, died soon after the arrival of the train in Salt Lake City. . . ."
