“Thursday, Feb. 18 . . .Departures - -The following named missionaries sailed from Liverpool by the s.s. ‘Cretic,’ February 18th, 1904. From Great Britain- George Marshall Jr., Joseph S Clark Jr., John L Reynolds, Elias W Crane Jr., Charles H West, Charles L.M Milne. From Germany - -William A Wetzel, Orson D. W Jones, Joseph F Thomstoff, Andrew A Kerr, John A Ruckert, Lawrence L Becksted. From Holland - - Joseph L Alvord. From Scandinavia- - Julius Christensen, David Lee, William E Racker, Charles G Johnson, Gustave A Anderson. From Switzerland - - John A Wurston, Frederick Remund Jr. With the company, which was in charge of Elder Charles G Johnson, assisted by Elders West and Lee, were 19 emigrants from Scandinavia, 9 from Switzterland, 41 from Holland, 3 from Scotland, and 37 from England. A small independent company of Saints sailed for Canada on the same date. (Mill.Star, 66:267).” [BMMH, 1904].
