Church Transportation Agent. Incoming Correspondence, 1885-1923. (CR 256 1 Bx 3 fd 16) Presiding Bishop’s Office. May 28, 1909. President Joseph F. Smith and Counselors, Dear Brethren: The company of emigrants leaving Liverpool May 13, 1909, on the steamer Ottawa, for Montreal, Canada, in charge of Elder C. L. Augerbauer, of Brigham City, arrived in Salt Lake City May 24th. The company consisted of 3 elders and 25 saints. The company had a pretty good trip across the ocean, held regular prayer meetings. Had good treatment from stewards and other steamer officials. Landed at Quebec, all passed the emigration officers but one sister named Zeherden, from Bern; her friends are located in Rexburg, Idaho. She had her papers all right; head money over $60.00, and the elder in charge aided her all he could but to no avail, the officials concluded to hold her. Her friends have been notified at Rexburg. From Montreal to Salt Lake good cars provided and good attention from railroad men, agent met the company at Chicago and accompanied them to Omaha. Arrived in Salt Lake City May 24, all had friends to meet them. Respectfully submitted, [CW Nibley, OP Miller, David A Smith].
