“Saturday, April 20. The ship ‘Furnesia’ sailed from [BLANK SPACE] with 60 Saints on board, bound for Utah. There were 45 emigrants (26 from the British, 17 from the Swiss and German and 2 from the Netherlands Mission) and 15 returning Elders, namely, Frederick Remund, Charles W. Tillack, Albert Romney, Achille A. Ramseyer, James J. Whittaker, A [BLANK SPACE] E. Schoenfield, Miles A. Romney, Lorenzo T. Shepherd, Stephen H. Winters, Hyrum J. Smith, Brigham Davies, John Burrows, Robert Aveson, Albert S. Farnsworth and Joseph Ogden. (Orig. Doc.)” [BMMH, 1895]. “Elder Robert Aveson [reported] . . . The voyage across the ocean was a pleasant one with the exception of the evening of the 23rd, when a terrific gale was experienced, all the passengers being ordered below.” [DN, 50:657].
