24 Saints on board, bound for Utah. There were 14 emigrants (4 from the British, and 9 from Scandinavian and 1 from the Netherlands Mission), and 10 returning Elders, namely, Geo. [George] D. Merkley, Thos. [Thomas] Minson, Hugh McKay, Wm. [William] H. Lyman, Edward A. Knowles, Enoch H. Lewis, Charles Sorenson, Rasmus Larsen, Andrew G. Bolander and Benjamin Janson. (Orig. Doc.)” [BMMH, 1894]. “On the return voyage in the Anchor liner Furnessia [Furnesia], which usually makes makes the trip in eight days, the weather was very stormy, and the vessel was fourteen days in crossing. On Nov. 21 an immense wave struck the ship, disarranging the steering gear, and causing delay. For three days the vessel made little progress in the gale. All on board were well treated and properly cared for.” [DN, 50:22].
